Welcome
to Catch-A-Ride!
Catch-A-Ride
is a public
transportation system available to individuals
of all ages in Dearborn, Decatur,
Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, and
Switzerland counties. It is a shared ride
service providing regular pick up and drop off
points in designated areas, as well as
individually scheduled service. It is a more
personal transportation service than traditional
public transportation providing either
door-to-door or curb-to-curb service. Since it
is a shared ride system, there may be additional
stops along the way, but we will get you to your
destination. Catch-A-Ride’s system of
regular routes combined with individually
scheduled service is specifically designed to
serve small towns and rural counties.
Point Deviation Service
Point
deviation routes operate within the more highly
populated areas in an established directional
route pattern with designated check points for
pick up and drop off. Riders may call for pick
up at other locations within the corporate
limits of the established route. This type of
system is accessible and convenient for the
public, and allows for a high level of
spontaneity in individual transportation plans.
The point deviation route offers curb-to-curb
service. Vehicles will stop at the curb to pick
you up and deliver you to your destination. Due
to the nature of this service, drivers on the
curb-to-curb point deviation routes are not
allowed to leave the vehicle to assist
customers. An escort may ride with a passenger
needing additional assistance.
Scheduled pick
ups along a point deviation route should be
requested 2 hours before your required pick up
time (shorter notice can sometimes be
accommodated). You will be picked up at your
requested location and taken to your destination
along the route. You can also board the vehicle
at any of the check points without a reservation
and be transported to any destination along the
route. For detailed route information, call the
Catch-A-Ride office for a brochure on
routes available in your community.
Alternate Service
For persons
living outside the established point deviation
routes, transportation is scheduled based on
individual request. This service must be
scheduled by noon the day prior to the requested
trip but may be scheduled up to 7 days in
advance. Some trips may require more than one
day’s notice. When scheduling your trip, please
let the dispatcher know if you will need
door-to-door assistance. If a high level of
assistance is needed, you must make arrangements
for an escort. |
